Jimera is also served by train being on the Algeciras - Bobadillas line.
The local area is full of pueblos blancos, whitewashed in the Moorish tradition, with their narrow winding streets and each with their own character and history.
Gastronomy
The local cooking has an important relation to the hunting period. In the spring, asparagus is the base of many culinary creations; in the winter there is honey porridge, and breadcrumbs fried with garlic. All year round there is a vinegar soup. The confectionery creations are especially exquisite, such as meringues, large rusks, crackling tarts and cakes made with oil.
Festivities and traditions
The major festivities in honour of the patron saint, the Virgen de la Salud, take place in August, whereas at the end of May they celebrate a pilgrimage in the Station suburb. Easter is another festivity to bear in mind.
Bars, restaurants, ventas etc.
There are several good, local bars and restuarants in Jimera. On your travels around the area you will pass many roadside ventas—many offering a very reasonable menu del dia (three courses often including wine or glass of beer). The nearby city of Ronda offers all types of local and international cuisine—and at prices to suit all pockets.
Swimming pool
The open air village pool that is just a 5-minute walk down the road from your accommodation. There is a full-size pool and a toddlers pool, too and also a confectionary cabin.
