The name 'Casa Pendle'

Pendle WitchIt's a long story - which we'll try and keep short! Jill's from Lancashire where you'll find Pendle Hill. Her parents have always named their houses "Pendle" - a tradition we decided to continue when we found our own little house (casa) in this beautiful, mountainous part of Andalucia.

And the witch? Pendle is associated with the most famous witches in English legal history. In the year 1612, at Lancaster gaol, in the county of Lancashire, ten men and women were hanged for the crime of witchcraft. This majestic, but brooding hill lies east of Clitheroe, set amongst a number of villages. It is a very romantic hill, spiritually associated with George Fox's vision in 1652, the 17th century Lancashire Witches, and the location both for the book "Mist over Pendle" and the film "Whistle Down the Wind".

What our holiday rental guests say...

Casa Pendle, Jimera de Libar - June 2006Comments from holiday rental guests who have stayed with us in Jimera de Libar and signed the Casa Pendle visitors' book:

  • "Superb hospitality and a great insigt into Spanish life. Thank you. Looking forward to our next meeting." Rod & Sue, UK (10 - 11 September, 2007)

  • "Idyllic! What more can I say. I absolutely love everything! Especially the pussycats. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!" Julie Underwood, UK (6 - 19 August, 2007)

  • "This is our fourth visit to Casa Pendle and Jill and Karl have excelled themselves in giving us a warm welcome and making us so comfortable despite the awful weather during the first few days. We noticed what a lot of work Karl has put into the site to make it even more beautiful. We have had several excursions into the mountains - some very scary roads near Grazalema. We found an excellent restaurant in Zahara de la Sierra called Al Lago - the restaurant by the lake! We now leave Jimera and Casa Pendle in the warm sunshine and look forward to our next visit. Thank you Jill and Karl for being such perfect hosts." Margaret & Bill Sutton, UK (20 May - 5 June, 2007)

  • "The frantic pace of England is a million miles away. Life in Jimera, and Casa Pendle in particular, is peaceful, calm and utterly stress free. Jill and Karl have been the perfect hosts. Nothing has been too much trouble. They deserve ALL the benefits and happiness that life in the sun offers" Liz & David Griffin, UK (12-19 May, 2007)
